About Chemical Engineering

The Department of Chemical Engineering was established in the year 2014 with an intake of 60 students. The B.Tech undergraduate program in Chemical Engineering is a semester based curriculum in basic sciences, process industries, Chemical Engineering concepts, Process control, Designing equipments and computer applications. The final semester gives them an opportunity for self-appraisal on what they learnt through the project work

  • The Chemical Engineering Department strives hard for recognition as a global centre of excellence in academics and research. Acquisition and dissemination of knowledge is our main thrust area. Application of knowledge to industry with concern for societal consciousness  and ecological sensitiveness is encouraged; this is achieved with intellectual rigour and commitment.
  • The Department is well supported by highly qualified and committed faculty members with expertise in both Academic and Research & Development (R&D). Their expertise covers various domains not only in conventional Chemical Engineering, but also in emerging and promising areas like Environmental Engineering, Energy Engineering, and Polymer Technology.
  • The Department is well equipped with laboratory facilities including high-end equipments like sono-reactors, photochemical reactor, packed bed reactor, rotating disc extractor, ion exchange column, absorption column, packed bed distillation column, rotary dryer, cooling tower, agitator, cascade control system and more.
  • The Department is active in professional body activities. Our faculty and students are the operating members of IICHE.
  • The Department has a strong desire of forging innovative alliance with industries to achieve academic excellence along with updated training on current professional practices. The Department offers consultancy services to the industries and also active in industrial problem solving through institute-industry-interaction.
  • The Department periodically organizes guest lectures, workshops, seminars, and conferences in the current scenario of Chemical Engineering. Industrial visits are arranged periodically to the students to have an exposure and experience how the chemical process Industries operates. The department also encourages the students to present papers in conferences to acquire confidence, communication skills and leadership qualities
  • Students are encouraged to undergo In-plant training to have in site experience in Industries. Placement training programmes are conducted to prepare the students  for  employment and to excel in the competitive  examinations
  • An additional feature is preparing the students for GATE and TANCET.
  • Career guidance focuses on the innate attributes of the students to help them to choose higher studies or jobs.

Department of Chemical Engineering takes immense pride in the fact that our students receive the highest quality of education by providing necessary infrastructure and a team of qualified and motivated faculty all under one roof. This is facilitated by closely monitoring the delivery content and teaching learning process and practical learning imparted in laboratories. Our excellence is not just confined to the classroom; we are equally active in organising conferences, workshops, seminars, guest lectures and other co-curricular activities to expose students to the aspects beyond the curriculum, and to provide an opportunity to interact with experts thus adding value to their profession. Our placement cell is closely associated with industry and has an excellent track record. After a rigorous intellectual session the students have ample scope to relax in co-curricular activities in sports and games We warmly welcome the young aspiring students to be a part of us while learning, and pass out successfully as valuable citizens.
