Anti-Ragging Committee

Action taken Report:

The Anti-ragging committee constituted by the Chairman of the committee met on 24/11/22 at Conference Hall, to review and strengthen the measures to curb the menace of ragging in the Institute for the session 2022-23

The Committee appraised the UGC regulations on curbing the menace of ragging in higher educational institutions 2009 and other instructions issued as per the directions of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India and the Regulations of State Gove ent. The Committee reviewed the measures taken during the last year and noted that:

For the session 2022-2023 directions regarding curbing the menace of ragging, anti- ragging committee and anti-ragging squads were constituted. Students were communicated about the menace of ragging and the punishment as per UGC and State regulations was included in the prospectus of various courses and also in the Hostel Rules & Regulations

Posters as per Clause 6(a)-(i) that "the ragging is totally prohibited in the Institution and anyone found guilty of ragging and/or abetting ragging, whether actively or passively, or being a part of a conspiracy to promote ragging, is liable to be punished in accordance with Regulations as well as under the provisions of any penal law for the time being in force" were printed and pasted at all important places in the Campus.

The following recommendations were given by the committee:

• Anti Ragging Committee will periodically review the situation and based on the information provided by them recommended actions as per the regulations would be taken by the Anti Ragging Sqaud.
• A close watch would be kept on all outside anti-social elements and it would be ensured that they do not enter the Campus
• Anti Ragging squad were formed in the college campus and hostels. They would watch the activities of the students especially during break-time & entry/ exit. If any incident of ragging is noticed by any member of the Committee or any other member of the teaching or Non-teaching staff, it should immediately be brought to the notice of the Principal. The anti-ragging squads should also remain alert towards incident of ragging.
• The faculty shall further inform the students about the consequences of raggingand ensure that no incident of ragging takes place in their Department and other vulnerable places.
• The Principal and Dean Academic-Nodal Officer,HoD's shall make all efforts that no class should be left unattended by the professors.
• Members of anti-ragging committee were directed to prevent the ragging in the bus. The respective bus in charges would be responsible for monitoring inside the bus.
• Squad members would go for frequent rounds in and around the college campus.
• Keep close watch on the visitors in the college campus.
• The Principal convened hostel committee meeting with Wardens/ Deputy Wardens of Boys and Girls Hostels and inform them to be actively involved In "No Ragging" campagine informed them to be in frequent rounds to ensure no incident of ragging takes place on the hostels.
• To avoid any incident of ragging in the Hostels during night hours, it was decided that resident tutor and wardens would carry out night patrolling.
• If any fresher student was found in the room of the senior student or any senior student was found in the room of the fresher student during night hours in the Hostel, the senior student would be dealt with penal provisions of UGC regulations.
• The committee decided to convene meeting based on the requirement and once in a year during the start of the academic year.
• Date of next meeting: The schedule of the next meeting was confirmed 21.07.2023 at 10.30 AM or earlier if need be.

Exam Cell Committee was reconstituted with new members for the smooth and successful conduct of the internal examinations on par with external examination conducted by Anna University. This committee will be functioning w.e.f 07.11.22.

Student Grievance Redressal Cell

OBJECTIVES:

• The main objective of the Student Grievance Redressal cell is to develop a responsible and receptive attitude among all the stakeholders so that a harmonious educational atmosphere is maintained in the college.
• The Student Grievance Redressal Cell is constituted for the redressed of the problems reported by the learners of the College with the aim and objective of keeping the self-esteem of the College by ensuring strife free atmosphere in the college through encouraging cordial student teacher relationship and student-student relationship etc.
• To encourage the students to express their problems / grievances frankly and freely and without any fear of being victimized.

VISION & MISSION

The Student Grievance Redressal Cell (SGRC) mission to look into the complaints lodged by any student and redresses it as per requirement. The students can state their grievance regarding any academic and non-academic matter within the campus through the online and grievance / suggestion box.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

• To facilitate the redressal of the grievance of a student or group of students, a Grievance Redressal Cell committee is instituted

  • Drop their grievance in writing in a sealed envelope in to the grievance and suggestions box placed at certificate section, Block-II
  • Sending an e-mail to grievance@spcet.ac.in
  • Students can register their grievance through college website
• Common Academic issues should be represented through class representative and HoD
• Personal issues can be mailed by individual
• Anonymous grievances will not be considered
• The committee will meet the aggrieved student(s) in person. In case, this pertains to an entire class of students, the class representative can meet the committee on behalf of the entire class
• The committee shall look into the grievances and take corrective action, wherever necessary and the students concerned will be informed about the action taken
• The committee will maintain confidentiality regarding the particulars of student(s) who have brought the issue to the notice of the committee

Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee

The Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee has been reconstituted as per the guidelines of AICTE & Director of Technical Education (DOTE) w.e.f 07.07.2022 and committee members are instructed to take appropriate action in order to ensure the prevention of harassment at the premises of SPCET.

Women Grievance Cell

The following committee has been reconstituted to look after the matter pertaining to the welfare and safe environment of girls at our institute with effect from 16/07/2025.

Function and Responsibilities:

• To protect women sexual harassment and provide fundamental rights to women at workplace.
• To take proactive measures towards the dignity of women in college campus.
• To ensure that the victims and the eyewitness are discriminated or suffered from their complaint.
• To ensure proper action will be taken against the culprit.

SC/ST Cell

The scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) Cell in St. Peter's College of Engineering and Technology is developed for the welfare of the students in the reserved category to provide special inputs in areas where the students undergoes difficulty. The cell would regularly conduct motivating coaching classes on life skills, personality development, public speaking, group discussions and making presentations and will organize interactive sessions and informal meetings with students to attend to their personal, social and academic problems.

The key functionalities of the SC/ST cell are

• To bring the students to respective level of main stream student body.
• To create a platform where students can point out their problems, regarding academic and non academic matters.
• To monitor the implementation of reservation policy in the institution.
• The Committee may often meet the students and faculties belong to SC/ST communities, to understand their problem and take necessary action and/or render them necessary advice/help to resolve the problem.
• The committee is responsible for creating awareness among the SC/ST students regarding the various Government and Non-Government scholarship schemes.
• The cell also will do Counseling and motivate the students to help them overcome inferiority complex related to interaction with fellow students and personal grooming, etc.

OBC Cell

The OBC Cell in the college was established in 2022 with the purpose to empower the OBC students. The college takes special interest in facilitating financial support to students from these communities from government agencies and other sources. The cell is always engaged to solve the various problems of OBC students.

• Alumni cell acts as a channel of communication between the alumni and our institution.
• The key objective of the alumni cell is to create interest and motivate alumni to participate in the progress of the institution and contribution towards the enhancement of the alma mater.
• The cell associates the alumni to provide an opportunity to current students to learn and gain from their experience. The alumni are involved in delivering guest lectures, seminars and special lectures offline and online. The Software Development Cell is formed with the primary objective of encouraging the innovative ideas of young budding engineers.

• Ensure a Safe Environment – Maintain a secure, respectful, and harassment-free campus/workplace for all genders.
• Promote Gender Equality – Eliminate discrimination and foster an environment of mutual respect and inclusivity.

The POSH Cell is constituted to prevent, prohibit, and redress incidents of sexual harassment in accordance with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. Its combined roles and responsibilities include:

• Policy Formulation & Implementation – Develop, implement, and enforce anti-sexual harassment policies and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
• Awareness & Sensitization – Organize orientation programs, workshops, and awareness campaigns to promote gender sensitization and a safe environment.
• Complaint Redressal – Provide a secure, accessible, and confidential platform for lodging complaints without fear of retaliation
• Fair Investigation – Conduct impartial and timely inquiries into complaints, following due process and legal guidelines.
• Confidentiality & Sensitivity – Ensure the identity and dignity of both complainants and respondents are protected throughout proceedings.
